SGS is recognized as a global leader in the verification of greenhouse gas emissions. We provide a range of services addressing mandatory and voluntary reporting of greenhouse gas emissions since 1997.

The SGS Climate Change Program has solid experience in offering services to thousands of clients, ranging from the smallest through to the largest multi-site/multi country emitters, and from simple to complex GHG inventories and diverse GHG project portfolios.

In North America the Climate Change Program was established in 2003 and has a team of Senior Lead and Local Assessors with diverse experience in small to large scale entity and project verifications . . . SGS North America is accredited for verification services under the California Climate Action Registry (CCAR) since 2004 and has successfully verified over 50 company inventories under the General Reporting Protocols. SGS North America is also accredited for project verification under CCAR in the Forestry, Landfill, and Cement sectors. SGS North America successfully verified the first and only forest projects under CCAR in 2007. SGS North America is also accredited with the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) for project verification in Forestry, Landfill Methane and Renewable Energy.

SGS North American can offer GHG validation and verification services in accordance with ISO 14064 protocol standards to certify the carbon footprint of your business. The SGS Carbon Neutrality Label offers you the chance to benchmark the level of neutrality of your business from the moment your business commits to become carbon neutral, step by step, from 20 to 100 percent neutrality. In addition, SGS North America is a pilot program member of The Climate Registry and American National Standards Institute’s Accreditation Program for Greenhouse Gas Validation/Verification Bodies.

SGS North America can also offer validation, verification and certification against internationally recognized carbon credit systems such as the Kyoto Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS), Gold Standard (GS), the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) and the California Climate Action Reserve which can help your business to achieve carbon neutrality.
