GOGREEN is the brand name of Deutsche Post World Net’s range of low-carbon and carbon-neutral shipping products and services. With GOGREEN, shipping is either carried out on DPWN’s growing fleet of alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles, or transport-related emissions of carbon dioxide are offset by a combination of internal and external initiatives in accordance with the Kyoto Protocol's goal of reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. DPWN’s Customers throughout Europe can today choose from a variety of carbon-neutral and low-carbon shipping options. The program will be expanded to other countries, and to additional products and services in the near future. DPWN is managing the carbon credits for GOGREEN shipping products and services. Its primary responsibilities are: accounting for carbon credits; monitoring the GOGREEN production scheme; ensuring that the supply and demand of carbon credits are matched; and documenting that used credits are retired. More information on GOGREEN products is available here. SGS successfully verified DPWN’s CARBON MANAGEMENT SYSTEM in 2006 and will undertake periodic re-verification. In the view of SGS the CARBON MANAGEMENT SYSTEM from DPWN is applicable for the tracking and off-setting of direct CO2 emissions. SGS approves that the CMS from DPWN is credible, plausible and transparent and the calculations are free of material errors. The verification processes are based on the EU Monitoring und Reporting Guidelines for the European Emission Trading Scheme. The used Methodology is currently under review to guaranty the up to date quality of the SGS approach. If you want to get specific information about the verification of the CMS from DPWN, please contact Dr. Jochen Gross. |
